Efficiency assessment of Wellness and Wellbeing programs
In the forties of the XX th century it became known that business bears significant losses caused by employees' mental (behavioral) disorders. Experts in mental health started to develop developing strategies to reduce losses. They also created tools that allow to assess not only the customers' satisfaction level but also the results for business.
Levels of efficiency assessment
1
1st level
The first level of efficiency assessment of wellness and wellbeing programs is the level of services utilization. This parameter is defined as percentage of users of services from all employees during one year. It's called "annual utilization". The level of EAP utilization from 3-6 % per year confirms that the programs are economically sound.
2
2nd level
The 2nd level measures how counseling reduce the impact of problems on the employee's work and private life. Data is collected through questionnaires which show the change in quality of private life and the ability to work after counseling.
Tools for accurate research
The main assessment tool proven by EAPA is Workplace Outcomes Suite.
It may be difficult or impossible to measure the productivity of an employee. That is why the research is focused on reducing factors that disturb normal productivity.

The participant in the program is asked to fill in the questionnaire twice: at the moment of application for the program and within 90 days after the use of services. The questionnaires help to assess the change in absenteeism, presenteeism, engagement, life and work satisfaction. Such research is regularly provided by global providers of wellness and wellbeing programs and is available for review.
